Peter King joined the award-winning Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) as Chief Executive in 2012, after a successful Executive management with experience across a variety of different market sectors in Australia, Asia and the Pacific.

MCEC today is the #1 convention, exhibition and events venue in Australia, hosting more than 1000 events annually, attracting 2.5 million visitors and generating nearly $1billion worth of economic benefit annually to the Victorian economy.

Prior to MCEC Peter was Chief Executive of the Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) of NSW. The RAS is one of the largest venue and event management organisations in Australia as it runs the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Spotless Stadium and extensive exhibition and events spaces at Sydney Olympic Park.

Before the RAS Peter was President, Asia Pacific of the US based Sunbeam Corporation for nine years; a branded consumer products business with multiple offices and distribution centres around Asia.

Peter has also worked in a number of senior sales and marketing roles in the sporting goods industry at Puma Australia, both in Melbourne and Sydney.

Growing up in Melbourne, Peter graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Business (Economics).

In addition to his professional credentials, Peter was a professional cricketer and represented Victoria in the Sheffield Shield cricket competition in the mid 1980’s. He also played professionally in the UK.

Peter is the Deputy Chairman of both Melbourne Convention Bureau and the Business Events Council of Australia. He is a board member of the Events and Exhibition Association of Australia, Tourism Australia Business Events Advisory Panel

Peter also on the Committee of the MCC (Melbourne Cricket Club) and is the current Chair of Cricket.
